FACES IN THE CROWD

SONYA MING
WICKLIFFE, OHIO
Ming, 22, a recent graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College who competed in sprinting and jumping events while there, won the heptathlon at the NCAA Division III track and field meet with 4,776 points. It was only her second heptathlon.

ED RILEY
WORCESTER, MASS.
Ed, a recent graduate of St. Peter-Marian High, had a 33-1 record over the last four years while leading the Guardians to a 74-12 record. The youngest of 16 children, he had a 1.16 ERA and a .533 batting average this past season.

PORTAGE, MICH.
Lacey, 52, a homemaker, had two holes in one on the same round at Milham Park Golf Club in Kalamazoo. She used a five-iron on the 116-yard 4th hole for her first ace and then a nine-iron on the 82-yard 13th for her second.

SAM LIEBER
WILMINGTON, DEL.
Within one week, Sam, who recently graduated from Brandywine High, won the state high school singles title, the Delaware junior (18 and under) singles crown, and, with Lee Short, the state junior doubles championship in tennis.

LARRY LILES
MEMPHIS
Liles, 41, coached the Memphis State racquetball team to its 13th consecutive men's collegiate championship. The Tigers beat Sacramento State 102-98 for the title, and his women's team was the national runner-up to the Hornets.

TOM GRAVANTE
CAMILLUS, N.Y.
Gravante, 22, a recently graduated Hobart lacrosse attackman, scored six times as the Statesmen beat Ohio Wesleyan 18-9 for their ninth straight NCAA Division III title. In three games, Gravante scored a playoff-record 17 goals.
