Winkin, 68, won his 700th game as a college baseball coach when Maine beat Miami of Florida 6-5 in 13 innings. At the end of this season, Winkin had a 701-449-10 record for his 34 years as coach at Colby and Maine.

Candi, who recently graduated from Atlantic High, won the heptathlon title for the second straight year at the Florida high school track and field meet. She won the title with 5,180 points, a state high school record.

Lori, who recently completed her senior year at Burke High, won the state high school girls' diving title for the second straight year. She scored 428.25 points for her 11 one-meter dives to beat Mindy Moore of Lincoln East High by 4.85 points.

Phumchaona, 44, a seamstress, won the 114-pound class in the 40-44 age group at the National Masters Weightlifting Championships for the second straight year, with a snatch of 55 pounds and a clean and jerk of 77 pounds.
NICK PURLER
WENTZVILLE, MO.
TONY PURLER
WENTZVILLE, Mo.
Nick and Tony, 18-year-old identical twins and graduates of Wentzville High, had undefeated seasons and won titles at the state Class 3A wrestling meet. Nick, competing at 112 pounds, ended his three-year career with a 66-match winning streak and three state titles. Tony won the 119-pound division and ended his high school career with 63 straight victories and two state titles. Nick and Tony also share the junior national Greco-Roman crown at 105.5 pounds.
