Kelly, 12, a righthanded pitcher and catcher, led the Phillies of the Draper Pony League to a 16-2 record and the Bronco Division championship. He batted .443, with six homers, and had a 12-0 record, with 127 strikeouts in 73 innings.

Jones, 58, a clerk in a bridal boutique, won her fourth straight Grand Masters (ages 60-69) singles crown, as well as the Masters (ages 50-59) singles title, at the U.S. National Badminton Championships, in Colorado Springs.

Cornelius, as a senior at A.C. Flora High, became the first competitor to win four individual titles at the state track championships, in Columbia. He placed first in the long-jump event and in the 100-, 200-, and 400-meter dashes.

Jeffrey, 5, using a children's driver, scored his first hole in one, on the 84-yard 10th hole at the Mill Creek Park par-3 course, in Youngstown, Ohio. On the 65-yard 12th, he drove to within three feet of the cup to shoot a birdie.

Coates, a 24-year-old landscaper at Sea World, and Herrick, a 34-year-old assistant athletic director at San Diego State University, beat out more than 250 competitors from 10 countries to win the women's and the men's overall titles, respectively, at the U.S. Open Flying Disc Championships in La Mirada, Calif. Coates. who won the overall crown for the second consecutive year, also finished first in two individual events, accuracy and self-caught flight.
