Dennis, a senior at Parkway High, won the AAU 17-18 age-group decathlon title at the National Junior Olympic meet. His score of 6,479 points was 112 points better than that of second-place finisher Ryan Rapoza of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

BECKLEY, W.VA.
Shelley, 17, playing in the national AAU girls' basketball tournament for southern West Virginia, made 23 three-pointers in four games. At Woodrow Wilson High last year, she set a state-tournament record with eight treys.

FOSTORIA, OHIO
Aaron, 13, led Marco's Pizza of the Fostoria Junior Baseball League to a 23-0 record and then won MVP honors as he paced the Fostoria Elks' All-Stars to the Bowling Green tourney title by batting .737 and pitching in all six victories.

Amanda, 10, won five of six individual 10-and-under age-group swimming events and finished second in the other at the First State Games. She also led her 200-yard-medley team to a gold medal and her 200-yard-freestyle team to a silver.

Richie, 11, a fifth-grader at St. Henry's Catholic School, won seven consecutive junior golf tournaments, including the state junior age-group (10 and under) in Angola, Ind., where he shot a 27-over-par 171 for 36 holes.

Rhodes, 56, reeled in the largest bass ever caught by a Texas woman when she landed a 13-pound, seven-ounce largemouth on 30-pound-test line with a Wacky Craw cherry metal flake lure at the Lake Fork Reservoir near Quitman, Texas.
