WHEN FORWARD GERALD GLASS transferred to Ole Miss from Division II
Delta State last season, Rebels coach Ed Murphy got a solo jam
session. Glass not only bangs the boards on the court (he averaged
12.5 rebounds a game as a sophomore at Delta State), but also pounds
the bass guitar for the Archie Singers, a gospel group formed 28
years ago, which includes his parents and seven other relatives.
Glass joined the group as a drummer at age six, learned the bass at
14 and added a variety of horns when he was in high school. The
Archies now tour nationally but suspend travel during the basketball
season to watch Gerald play.
