Dede, 16, won the girls' 54.5-km individual road race over Jessica Grieco of Emerson, N.J., at the Junior World Cycling Championships, in Moscow. She also won the road-race and time-trial events at the Junior National Championships.

Thurman, a 67-year-old retired sales representative, got his 31st career hole in one by acing the 135-yard 3rd hole at Bowyer's Par-3 course in Vancouver. Thurman has aced all nine holes at that course over the past 13 years.

Janet, 16, won four gold medals in the 15-16 division at the National Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships, in Tonawanda, N.Y. She then won the figures duet and trio at the National Junior Olympics.

Jeff, a 23-year-old teaching tennis pro, defeated brother Marty, a 32-year-old sporting goods store owner, 7-6, 6-2 to win his first Cincinnati metropolitan men's tennis title. Marty, a former teaching pro, had won the city singles championships live previous times. Together, the Wolfs got their fourth doubles crown, beating the pairing of Joe Leytze and Keith Cook 7-6, 6-4. The brothers are the sons of former Cincinnati Royals and former Detroit Piston coach Charley Wolf.
