KATHY SYMONDS
ANSONIA, CONN.
Symonds, 35, coached Amity Regional High's girls' volleyball team to a 22-0 season and its sixth Class L title in nine years. Amity beat defending champ Maloney High of Meriden 3-1. Symonds's 12-year coaching mark is 216-19.

TED ROGERS
CHEVY CHASE, MD.
Rogers, a junior defensive end at Williams College, had 57 tackles including 12 sacks as he led the 8-0 Ephmen to their first undefeated, untied season in 109 years. He was named New England small-college defensive player of the year.

MARGARET ROBINSON
HUNTSVILLE, ALA.
Margaret, a student at Huntsville High, became the first freshman to win the state Class 6A girls' cross-country title. She set a record of 12:00 for the two-mile course as she led the Panthers to their second team title in three years.

JOSH VANDIVER
QUINCY, ILL.
Josh, a senior goaltender for Quincy Senior High, allowed just three goals in 12 games and had 10 shutouts and a 10-1-1 record as the Blue Devils advanced to the round of eight in the state soccer tournament by beating Morton High 2-0.

YANNICK SOUVRÉ
FRESNO, CALIF.
Souvrè, a 5'10" sophomore forward for Fresno State, made a school-record eight three-point baskets and had a career-high 36 points in the Bulldogs' 129-66 victory over Baylor. She was a member of the French national team.

J.J. JACKSON
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C.
J.J., 14, preserved his No. 1 national ranking in the 14-and-under age group when he defeated Seth Hoffman of West Bloomfield, Mich., 6-1, 6-4 in the final round to win the Boys' 14 Indoor national tennis championship, in Chicago.
