Terry, 43, successfully defended her ladies' high-overall title at the World Skeet Shooting Championships. She hit 91 of 100 targets in the .410-gauge event, 99 of 100 in both the 28- and 20-gauge events, and all 250 in the 12-gauge.

Kirk, a senior crosscountry runner at Prescott High, won his second straight state 4A title. He set course records in 10 of his 13 races this season, including the state championship, where he covered the 3.1-mile course in 14:35.

Williams-Sanders, a senior at Hawaii, had 117 kills during four straight wins for the 29-3 Rainbow Wahines volleyball squad, including a school-record 44 in a five-game defeat of UC Santa Barbara.

Sampson, 69, the football coach at Brunswick School in Greenwich, Conn., guided the 10-0 Bruins to the New England Class C prep school title. He has an overall record of 56-5, with 34 shutouts in seven years of coaching the Bruins.

Mark, a senior, and Amy, a sophomore, both midfielders, scored key goals in title games as the Reitz Memorial High boys' and girls' teams won the state soccer titles. Amy had the winning goal in the shoot-out that followed the regulation play, two overtimes, and two sudden death periods of the Tigers' 2-1 defeat of South Bend Clay High. Mark had the sixth of the seven Reitz goals in a shoot-out that followed 110 scoreless minutes against Indianapolis's Carmel High, which scored six times.
