Billy Martin was fired after being accused of punching a marshmallow
salesman in a Minnesota hotel; Indiana coach Bob Knight was jailed
for allegedly hitting a policeman in Puerto Rico. Yankee catcher
Thurman Munson was killed in a plane crash.
