Stan, a senior at East Mecklenburg High, beat Rodney Bryant of Fayetteville Southview 11-5 to win his second consecutive state 4A wrestling championship. The title match was his 81st straight victory, breaking the state high school record.

STOCKTON, CALIF.
Mohan, a senior Softball pitcher at Eastern Connecticut State, set a New England Division III mark for career wins when she beat Bridgewater State 4-3 for her 69th victory. She also holds records for complete games (72) and shutouts (36).

Ludwig, 30, a high school business teacher, won the long-kayak division of the 12th Saint George River Race, in Searsmont, Maine. He paddled the six-mile course in 42:43 to defeat Kip Brundage of Belfast, Maine, by more than three minutes.

FORT MITCHELL, KY.
Talor, an eighth-grader who swims for the Beech-wood High varsity, won the Outstanding Girl award at the state high school swimming championships. She set a state girls' record in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.50) and won the 100 butterfly.

BURLINGTON, VT.
Russell, 22, and O'Neil, 23, won the Amateur Athletic Racquetball Association national championships at the World Intercollegiate championships, in Berkeley, Calif. Russell, a senior at the University of Kentucky, beat defending champion Cindy Doyle of Williamsville, N.Y., 15-14, 15-9 to win the women's open division. She had finished third a year ago. O'Neil, a senior at Memphis State, defeated defending champion Jim Floyd of Flint, Mich., 15-8, 11-15, 11-1 to win the men's crown.
