Heather, 15, a pitcher for the Hoover-Shades Mountain fast-pitch softball Americans, threw a four-hitter in her team's 11-1 Dixie Belles World Series title game win over Humphreys County (Tenn.). In 17 playoff games, she had a 1.00 ERA.

MOORE TOWNSHIP, PA.
Richard, a 52-year-old truck driver, pole-vaulted 3.81 meters to defeat Gary Miller of Glendale, Calif., by .15 of a meter for his third straight 50-54 age-group title at The Athletics Congress/USA National Masters' championships, in Indianapolis.

BAMBI BOWMAN
SARASOTA, FLA.
Bambi, 16, won the 400-, 800- and 1,500-meter freestyle events at the U.S. Swimming Long Course Junior Nationals. Her time of 16:46.32 in the 1,500 established a junior national record, breaking Jane Coontz's 1980 mark by 1.32 seconds.

TOMMY MERICAL
HERNDON, VA.
Tommy, 12, a catcher-pitcher for the HOYB Bambino League Margarita Orioles, hit .774 with eight homers and 45 RBIs and had a 0.72 ERA in the regular season. He led the Herndon all-stars to a 22-5 runner-up finish in a state boys' tournament.

JENNIFER CHOI
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIF.
Jennifer, 18, shot a four-under-par 72 to defeat Kyle Kovas of Griffith Park by one stroke and win the Los Angeles City Individual Golf championship. Jennifer, who has a three handicap, beat 19 girls and 32 boys in the tournament field.

HICKEY THOMPSON
BELLEVILLE, ILL.
Hickey, a 5'11" senior running back for Althoff High, rushed for 1,199 yards and 19 touchdowns on 110 carries in the Crusaders' first five games this year, all wins. In the fifth, 35-0 over Belleville West, he gained 273 yards on 16 carries, with four TDs.
