Kim, 10, a Softball first baseman in the Spirit of Morgan Hill League minor division (ages 7-10), led the Sunbeams to an 18-4 record and the league championship by batting .901 with 39 doubles and three home runs in 71 at bats.

YORK, MAINE
Jason, a senior striker for the York High soccer team, scored eight goals and assisted on another in the Wildcats' 11-0 win over Wells High. During the regular season, Jason had 13 goals and five assists in leading the Wildcats to a 14-0 record.

KIERSTIN DOYLE
FOWLER, IND.
Kierstin, 14, set a national 13-14 age-group track record with a time of 15.03 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles at the National Age Group Track and Field championships. She won the pentathlon at the National Junior Olympics two weeks later.

NEW ULM, MINN.
Abraham, 37, a conservation officer, shot an 863 (out of 900) to defeat Steve Lubbert of Chaska by seven points and win his fourth consecutive state-police pistol championship. His father, Richard, who is a two-time champion, finished sixth.

JENNIFER YANOFF
SWAMPSCOTT, MASS.
Jennifer, 13, defeated Tiffany Zwicker of Encino, Calif., 3-2, to win the gold medal in the 13-14 age group fighting karate event at the North American Maccabi Youth Games. She also won the forms competition at that meet.

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ.
Garner, a freshman tailback, set Scottsdale Community College single-game records for yards rushing (430), points (36) and touchdowns (6) in a 58-28 win over Snow College (Utah). He had touchdowns of 2, 2, 29, 34, 57 and 82 yards.
