Price, 74, matched his age by shooting a 74 at Wichita's Crestview Country Club. It was also the 74th time since June 1985 that Price had shot his age or better. The first time he accomplished this feat was when he had a 68 at Crest-view at age 69.

ANNA SCHWARTZ
HOMESTEAD, FLA.
Schwartz, 27, a nurse, set the women's world cycling record for distance covered in 24 hours when she rode 417.5 miles in a 15-mile loop around Dade County. She broke by 15.9 miles the mark set by Susan Notorangelo of Harvard, Ill., in 1982.

TARA MITNICK
LILBURN, GA.
Tara, 7, scored 10 goals for the Gwinnett Soccer Association's under-eight Ponytails in their 11-0 defeat of the Mountain Park Lady Hawks. She had 45 goals as the Ponytails amassed a 10-0 record, outscored foes 65-3 and finished first in the league.

JOHN LEWIS
FAIRPORT, N.Y.
John, a senior center on the Fairport High hockey team, scored nine points with two goals and seven assists as the Red Raiders beat Penfield 11-4. In his team's first 10 games this season, John had scored or assisted on 29 of his team's 40 total goals.

JERMAINE THURSTON
CLINTON, N.C.
Jermaine, an eighth-grade halfback for Union Elementary, rushed for 393 yards on 16 carries and scored six TDs as the Spartans, 5-1, beat Midway 44-22 for the conference championship. Jermaine had 1,363 yards on 67 carries for the season.

KRISTAN GATELY
WEST ROXBURY, MASS.
Kristan, 17, won gold medals in four women's events al the state swim meet: the 50-yard freestyle (24.90), the 100 freestyle (53.52), as the anchor of the 4√ó50 free relay (1:42.86) and as the anchor again of the 4√ó100 free relay (3:42.13).
