Brandon, a senior pitcher on the Pine Tree High baseball team, set an East Texas League record by striking out 21 batters in seven innings to help the Pirates beat Jefferson High 7-0 for their first win in four games.
Angela Lyman
DANVILLE, CALIF.
Angela, 13, scored the winning goal as the Danville DeFeeters beat the Sacramento Tigers 1-0 for the state soccer title for girls under 14 years old. Angela had a team-high 43 goals in 32 games this season.
Brian Horan
SOMERVILLE, MASS.
Horan, a senior center on the Suffolk University hockey team, was named to the ECAC North all-star team for the third time. Horan's 104 points (49 goals, 55 assists) for the season led all Division III scorers.
Melissa Moody
FARRELL, PA.
Moody, a senior at Allegheny College, won the Division III women's three-meter diving title with a Division III-record 462.70 points, which was 24.25 points better than the 1990 mark set by Ann Kelley of Kenyon.
Austin Newman
WESTFIELD, N.J.
Newman, 75, a retired factory worker, recently ran an indoor 1,500-meter race at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 6:01. He has also competed in eight triathlons, winning his age group in seven of them.

JACKSON, MISS.
Tera, a senior forward-center for Murrah High, had 26 points and 14 rebounds while leading the Lady Mustangs, fifth in the state, to a 60-48 win over No. 1-rated Starkville High in the Class 5A girls' basketball title game.
