Guerrini, 18, a recent graduate of Santa Rosa High, set a national high school record in the 2,000-meter steeplechase at the North Coast Track Extravaganza. His time of 5:43.9 broke the old mark by 3.1 seconds.

DES PERES, MO.
Doug, 16, a golfer at Priory High, is believed to be one of the first sophomores to win the state high school title. His 142 for 36 holes beat Hale Irwin's son, Steve, of St. Louis Country Day school, by two strokes.

RAYMOND, MAINE
Corson, 24, a gym manager, and Graffam, 24, a surgical technologist, both earned gold medals at the Women's World Powerlifting Championships in New Delhi. Corson came out on top in the 181-pound class by lifting 418 pounds in the squat, 236 in the bench press and 396 in the deadlift for a total of 1,050. Graffam finished first in the 123-pound class with lifts of 358 (squat), 198 (bench press) and 418 (deadlift) for a total of 974.

MISSOULA, MONT.
Hallie, 18, a recent graduate of Hellgate High, won her third consecutive AA state girls' tennis title by beating Kate Hogarty of Billings West High 6-0, 6-0. She was undefeated (56-0) in three years of AA competition.

LANCASTER, PA.
Bellaire, 81, a retired professor of meteorology at Millersville University, set an age-group (80-84) national mark of 39.09 seconds in the 50-meter short-course freestyle at the St. Joseph's University Masters Swim Meet.
