Falso, 46, took home the gold medal in the 45-and-over age category at the World Senior Racquetball championships, in Albuquerque. In the finals, Falso beat Merijean Kelley of Palo Alto, Calif., 15-8, 15-12.

Bell, 40, a sporting goods store owner, set a national record for the Masters 5K run with a time of 14:40. He shaved more than five seconds off the previous mark, established by Jim Pearson, 41, of Lakeland, Fla., in 1989.

HOUSTON
Bethany, 8, won the eight-year-olds' division at the Ironkids Triathlon national championship, in San Antonio. She finished first, with a combined time of 21:12 for the 100-meter swim, the 5,000 bike ride and the 1,000 run.

INEZ, KY.
Jesse, a quarterback and senior at Sheldon Clark High, set a high school single-game passing-yardage record when he threw for 651 yards. He completed 24 of 36 attempts in a 61-16 defeat of Allen Central.

Leigh Anne Hardin
MARTINSVILLE, IND.
Leigh Anne, 9, shot a 95-94-189 to win the state championship (10 and under) for the third consecutive year, at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola. Corey Ann Fike of Speedway came in second.
