MIDDLEBURG, PA.
Carla, a senior soccer goalie at Middleburg High, allowed just four goals this season as she led the Middies to a 21-1-2 record and the district title. In Carla's three years as a starter, the team had a 65-6-3 record.

Clint Trial
EAST LANSING, MICH.
Clint, a senior at East Lansing High, won his second consecutive individual all-around state high school gymnastics title in leading the Trojans to their second straight team crown. He won all 12 of the meet's events.

Melanie, a freshman at Saint Ann's School, won the middle school title in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, with times of 12.65 and 26.3, respectively, at the Eagles' track and field championships.

Mike Gear
SIDNEY, MONT.
Gear, 44, coached the Sidney High football team to a 24-6 win over Stevensville High and its fifth straight state title. His Eagles went 14-0 this season and have won seven of the last nine state crowns.

Carissa Conner
YARMOUTH, MAINE
Conner, a senior forward on the College of Wooster field hockey team, was named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Division III All-America. She scored 20 goals to lead the Lady Scots to a 13-5-1 record.

Richard Bassi
REDWOOD CITY, CALIF.
Bassi, 50, a transportation analyst, won six golds at the U.S. Masters swimming nationals. Competing in the 50-54 age group, he won the 50-, 100-and 200-meter backstrokes, the 50 and 100 frees, and the 50 fly.
