Marion, a junior sprinter at Thousand Oaks High, set a national high school girls' mark when she clocked a 22.67 in the 200-meter dash. She also ran the year's fastest high school girls' 100, 11.14, .01 off the alltime best.

Bryan Jacob
NORCROSS, GA.
Jacob, 23, broke two of his own U.S. weightlifting records, in the 132¼-pound division, by snatching 270 pounds and hoisting 595 to qualify for the Olympic team. He beat his year-old marks by five pounds each.

Jim Jacobsen
SADDLE BROOK, N.J.
Jacobsen, 43, golf coach at Bergen Catholic High, guided the Crusaders to a 38-0 record and their eighth district title in his 10 years of coaching. He now has a career record in dual meets of 310-8-1 and four state titles.

Kate Enochs
CLARENDON HILLS, ILL.
Kate, a senior softball pitcher at Benet Academy, had six victories, including a perfect game, two other no-hitters and two one-hitters over a seven-day span. In the six games she struck out 63 batters while walking only five.

George Arias
TUCSON
Arias, a sophomore third baseman at Pima College, had two grand slams in a 17-5 victory against Wallace State in the Junior College World Series and another in a 12-5 series defeat of Trinidad (Colo.) State.

Andy Moe
CHEVY CHASE, MD.
Moe, a senior midfielder for the Princeton lacrosse team, scored four goals, including the game-winner, nine seconds into a second overtime, as the Tigers defeated Syracuse 10-9 to win the national championship.
