Jowanna, an eighth-grader at I.S. 324, is the first eighth-grader to win two National Scholastic track and field high school championships. She won both the 800-meter outdoor (2:11.8) and indoor (2:12.6) titles.

Tom Zaccagnino
MADISON, CONN.
Tom, a senior attackman on the Daniel Hand High lacrosse team, was named All-America after scoring 87 goals and 145 points this season. His 206 goals and 331 points during his career were both state records.

Misha Utley
LAWRENCEBURG, IND.
Utley, 18, the 1991 junior national 105¾-pound champ, won that weight class at the U.S. Weightlifting Federation championships by hoisting 154¼ pounds in the clean and jerk and 121¼ in the snatch.

Joe Williams
SAN ANGELO, TEXAS
Williams, 44, coach of both women's and men's tennis at Midland College, guided his women's team to the national junior college championship for the third consecutive year. His men finished No. 2 in the country.

Jacqueline Dahle
ROCHESTER, MINN.
Dahle, a senior outfielder at the College of St. Benedict, was named the GTE Softball Academic All-America of the Year in the college division after hitting .373 for the 21-3 Blazers and maintaining a 3.97 average in biology.

Shon Walker
CYNTHIANA, KY.
Shon, as a senior outfielder for Harrison County High, set a national high school single-season record with 29 home runs and tied a national mark with 82 runs scored. He has signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
