Tracy, a senior pitcher on the Lapeer West High softball team, set a national high school record with 136 victories during her career. In '91 she established a national single-season batting mark with 76 hits.
Derras Wilmington
SUGAR LAND, TEXAS
Derras, a senior hurdler at Dulles High, had the nation's fastest times for a high schooler in both the 300-meter intermediate hurdles (36.41) and the 400 hurdles (52.11). He is headed to Rice on a football scholarship.
Bill Ramsrud
GRANTS PASS, ORE.
Ramsrud, 63, a 10-time U.S. masters weightlifting champ and a two-time world titlist, squatted 480 pounds, deadlifted 545 and benched 280 for a 181-pound-class world-record total of 1,305 in the 60-64 age group.
Jan Esway
GREENSBURG, PA.
Esway, a freshman dean's list student at Harvard, swam to a junior national record in the 200-meter IM with a time of 1:49.81, breaking by 1.34 the mark established by Craig Popp of Irvine Novaquatics in 1982.
Jennifer Halladay
TORRANCE, CALIF.
Jennifer, a junior goalie for the Torrance High girls' soccer team, set state high school marks for shutouts in a season (28) and consecutive shutouts (17) while leading the Tartars to a second sectional title in a row.
Matt Renshaw
SANTA BARBARA, CALIF.
Matt, a senior setter on the Santa Barbara High volleyball team, led the unseeded Dons to the Southern Section 4-A title with 55 assists in a 15-7, 15-8, 15-10 defeat of Huntington Beach. He was named division MVP.
