Eric Olszewski
SPRING, TEXAS
Eric, a senior wide receiver, caught 194 passes for 3,774 yards and scored 45 touchdowns in four years at Concordia Lutheran High. This season he had 69 receptions, good for 1,252 yards and 14 TDs. A three-time private school all-state player, he amassed 1,317 receiving yards as a junior and 1,024 as a sophomore.

Cory Evans
CARLSBAD, CALIF.
Cory won the kindergarten division at the National School Grade Chess Championships a year after earning the California state title for four-year-olds. His parents, Larry, an international master, and his mother, Sharon, who was once highly ranked nationally, introduced him to chess at 18 months of age. By two he could play an entire game.

Kris Peterson
COLUMBUS, GA.
Peterson, 26, a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, won the women's prone competition at the world military shooting championships by defeating two-time Olympic silver medalist Vessela Lecheva of Bulgaria in a tiebreaker. She finished second to Lecheva in the women's three-position event. She was an Olympic alternate in '92 and '88.

Eunice Kindred
BRANDON, FLA.
Eunice, 12, was named the state's top bowler in the girls' Division D (115-129 average), after defeating 261 other entrants, with a nine-game, handicapped-series total of 2,110, at the state youth championship. She had a high game of 189. A bowler for just two years, she entered the tournament with a 115 average and now has a 148.

Kristina Ervin
MAYNARD, MINN.
Kristina, 18, a senior outside hitter for MACCRAY High's girls' volleyball team, passed the 1,000-kill mark in a win over Winsted Holy Trinity School. She had 324 kills this season to lead the Wolverines to a 25-4 record. She is also a forward on the girls' basketball team, and through Monday had scored a school-record 1,155 career points.

Ken Dobyns
NEW YORK CITY
Dobyns, 31, scored five goals and had four assists to lead New York Ultimate to a 21-15 win over Boston Commonwealth and a fourth straight national ultimate Frisbee crown. He scored 25 of New York's 83 goals in the last four title games. He also helped New York win world titles in '88 and '90, and was the tournament MVP in '90.
