Nicole and Monique, identical-twin seniors on the St. Francis Prep track and field team, finished first and second, respectively, in the long jump to lead the Terriers to the New York Catholic High School Athletic Association girls indoor team title. Nicole jumped 16'1¼" to outdistance Monique by three inches. In the 55-meter dash Nicole, who is four minutes older than Monique, broke the tape in 7.4 seconds to come in first. Monique finished third, .1 of a second behind her sister. In softball last spring Monique batted .420 in the leadoff slot, and Nicole, who was second in the order, had a .436 average to propel St. Francis to a 19-1 record and the Diocese of Brooklyn title. They tied for the team lead in stolen bases with 25.

Jeff and Jeremy, identical-twin senior wrestlers at Rocky Mountain High, won consecutive Class 6A championships at the state tournament. Competing in the 135-pound final, Jeremy defeated Gerard Dimanna of Arvada West High by an 8-3 decision. Ten minutes later Jeff, who is 13 minutes older than Jeremy, won the 140-pound title by beating Allen Watkins, also of Arvada West, by a 7-1 decision. Jeff finished his career with a 71-23 record, including a 24-3 mark this season. Jeremy had a four-year record of 73-18-1, with 28 pins. This year he was 26-4. A year ago the twins reversed weight classes at the state meet, with Jeff wrestling for the Lobos at 135 pounds and Jeremy at 140. Each finished fourth.

Wade and Wyatt, identical-twin seniors who paired up at guard for the Urbana (Ohio) University basketball team, combined for 48 points and 17 assists to lead the Blue Knights to a 121-81 victory over Grace College of Winona Lake, Ind., the top-ranked team in NAIA Division I at the time. The 6-foot Wade, who was born six minutes before Wyatt, led the NAIA in assists with 11.9 a game. He shot 63.4% from the field and averaged 12.5 points. Wyatt, also a 6-footer, was Urbana's high scorer, averaging 21.3 points a game. He has scored in double figures in 43 straight games, including a 35-point performance against Cedarville (Ohio) College in which he also had a school-record 10 steals.
