Kerstin Manning

Mandy Stevenson
MOORESTOWN, N.J.
Manning and Stevenson, both recent graduates of Maryland, were named national women's intercollegiate lacrosse players of the year: Manning was selected as defensive player of the year, and Stevenson as goalie of the year. A two-time All-America, Manning was a four-year starter for the Terps and was captain the last two seasons. She finished her career with 37 goals and 54 points. Stevenson, also a two-time All-America, was a three-year starter. She had a .602 career save percentage and totaled 368 saves, including 125 as a senior. Manning and Stevenson helped lead Maryland to four consecutive NCAA Final Four appearances and to the 1992 national championship.
Del de Windt
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH.
De Windt, 49, a manufacturers' rep for the auto industry, became the oldest winner in the 82-year history of the Michigan amateur golf championship. Two down after 14 holes of match play, he defeated defending champion Randy Lewis in the quarterfinals. De Windt won the title on the 20th hole of the final.
Calvin Harrison
SALINAS, CALIF.
Harrison, a recent graduate of North Salinas High, won the 400 meters at the U.S. Junior Championships in Spokane, Wash. His time of 45.07 is the second fastest ever by an American high school student. He also won the 400 and anchored the winning 4x400 meter relay team at the Junior Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Man.
Bill Specht
ST. PETERSBURG, FLA.
Specht, 35, a bond salesman, won the 50-, 100- and 200-yard backstroke and the 50-, 100- and 200-yard butterfly in the 35- to 39-year-old division at the U.S. Masters Swimming Short Course National Championships in Santa Clara, Calif. Specht holds the national age-group record in all six events.
Tim Sweeney
GLENDALE HEIGHTS, ILL.
Sweeney, a senior-to-be at Southwest Missouri State, won his third straight intercollegiate racquetball title by defeating Joel Bonnett of Memphis State 15-2, 15-3 in the finals. A member of the U.S. national team and the 1991 national amateur champion, Sweeney didn't begin playing racquetball until he was 16.
