Nate, a junior tailback for Monroe High, ran for 391 yards while Curt, a junior quarterback for Stoughton High, completed 24 of 39 passes for 303 yards and three touchdowns as the Monroe Cheesemakers beat the Vikings 35-28 for their 34th straight win. Nate, in only his second game as a starter, had touchdown runs of 13 and 58 yards. Through four games he had 931 yards on 108 carries and scored 10 TDs. Curt has totaled 770 passing yards and eight TDs in his first four games of 1993. Last year he was named first team all-conference after he amassed 1,663 yards and 17 TDs through the air. Two of those touchdowns were against Monroe, which made the Vikings the only team to score twice against Monroe during the '92 regular season.

Sheila Songcuan
SAN JOSE
Sheila, 14, won the world BMX championships for 14-year-old girls, in Schijndel, the Netherlands, beating runner-up Tatjana Schocher of Switzerland by more than five bike lengths. Sheila was the 1992 American Bicycle Association national girls' cruiser champion and an age-group champion in '91 and '92.

Sandy Edwards
COLUMBUS, OHIO
Edwards, 29, a computer programmer and shortstop, led Universal Plastics Inc. to its second straight national women's major slo-pitch softball title by batting .593 with four homers and 20 RBIs in the nine tournament games. She was named tournament MVP for the second year in a row after UPI beat Ruth Paving Corp. 18-7 in the finale.

Betsy Alison
NEWPORT
Alison, 33, a three-time Yachtswoman of the Year, and her crew defeated 43 other vessels to win her third Rolex International Women's Keelboat Championship. Competing in a J/24 sailboat, she had one first-place finish, four seconds and a sixth for a total of 14.75 points, beating Jody Swanson of Buffalo by three points.

Vanessa Richey
SAN ANTONIO
Richey, 27, earned the silver medal for the 1993 women's modern pentathlon World Cup, in Rome, with first-place finishes in both the running and swimming events. Richey, the 1993 national champion and Olympic Festival gold medalist, also finished eighth at the world championships, in Darmstadt, Germany.
