HOMESTEAD, FLA.
Spiroff, 24, a physical therapist, won both the righthanded and lefthanded titles for the fifth consecutive year at the American Arm Wrestling Association Florida State Championships, in Port Charlotte. He is the defending world champion in the World Arm Wrestling Council's 210-pound lefthanded division.

Jenifer West
MEDFORD, N.J.
West, a senior at Clark University, became the sixth netminder in the history of NCAA field hockey to earn 44 career shutouts when the Cougars tied Southern Maine 0-0 in double overtime. She ended her career with a save percentage of .909, a goals-against average of 0.68 and 45½ shutouts in 73 games in goal.

Adam Goucher
COLORADO SPRINGS
Adam, a senior at Doherty High, won his third straight Class 6A state cross-country championship. Earlier this fall, at the Pueblo Central Invitational, he became the first high school runner in Colorado to break 15 minutes in a five-kilometer race (14:44.46). At last spring's state track meet, Adam won the mile and the two-mile races.

Matt Newton
BIRMINGHAM, MICH.
Newton, a senior wideout for Principia (Ill.) College, became the Division III leader in career receptions with 264 when he made 13 catches in a 35-29 loss to Earlham College. He broke the 12-year-old record of 258 set by Bill Stromberg of Johns Hopkins. Newton holds the division mark for receptions per game (12.3) over a single season.

Aimee Reiner
WEST COVINA, CALIF.
Aimee, 15, won the overall title for the second consecutive year at the World Junior Frisbee Disc Championships, in Buena Park, Calif. She won two events, accuracy and discathon, and was second in disc golf, maximum-time-aloft, distance, and freestyle. Aimee holds the girls' 14-and-under world record for maximum-time-aloft (9.45 seconds).

Phil Yarrow
OAK PARK, ILL.
Yarrow, a 25-year-old teaching pro at a squash club, defeated Guy Cowan of Houston 9-1, 9-1, 9-0 to successfully defend his amateur title at the USSRA National Squash Soft Ball Championships, in Redwood City, Calif. Yarrow dropped only one game in his five matches during the tournament.
