Stephen Kovacs
HAMPTON, N.J.
Kovacs, a senior Eastern European studies major at Columbia, became the first fencer to win four individual Intercollegiate Fencing Association titles when he beat Beran Rose of Yale (5-2) for the 1994 saber crown. Kovacs, who also won the Northeast Regional saber crown, is 96-24 in his college career.

Lucie Ludvigova
LIBEREC, CZECH REPUBLIC
Ludvigova, a junior tennis player at Texas, set an NCAA women's record by reaching the final of her third straight collegiate grand slam tournament, the ITA Indoor National. She beat Georgia's Angela Lettiere 6-1, 6-3 for the title. Ludvigova was the juco champ two years ago and Division II titlist in 1993.

Matt Infranca
OAK GROVE, MO.
Matt, a 125-pound senior wrestler at Oak Grove High, pinned Alando Harker of Carrollton High to win his 94th consecutive match and a Class 1A-2A state title for the fourth straight year. He finished his high school career with a 141-4 record and is just the third Missouri wrestler to earn four state crowns.

Kisha Jett
COLUMBIA, MD.
Kisha, a senior, led Hammond High to the Maryland 2A/1A girls' track and field championship by winning the 55-meter dash (7.17 seconds), the 55 hurdles (8.52) and the 300 run (40.99). Her half brother James, a wide receiver for the L.A. Raiders, was on the victorious 1992 U.S. Olympic 4 x 100 relay team.

Chad Bickley
SANTA MARIA, CALIF.
Chad, a junior guard at Valley Christian Academy, set a state high school boys' mark for points in a game when he scored 89 in a 130-48 defeat of New Cuyama Valley High. Chad, who was 27 of 48 from the field, also set a national high school record with 20 three-pointers.

John Stamstad
CINCINNATI
Stamstad, 28, successfully defended his Iditasport title by riding a mountain bike across 170 miles of frozen trail in Alaska, from Big Lake to Skwentna and back, in 15 hours, 56 minutes. Rocky Reifenstuhl of Fairbanks, who finished more than five hours behind Stamstad, was second for the second year in a row.
