Jordanna Fraiberg
MONTREAL
Fraiberg, a senior history and literature major at Harvard, beat Margo Green of Franklin & Marshall 9-8, 9-0, 9-7 to win the intercollegiate women's singles squash title. Fraiberg, who is a member of the Canadian women's team, won the singles crown as a sophomore and was the runner-up as a freshman.

Ted Sobel
BRONX, N.Y.
Sobel, a 34-year-old free-lance writer, squatted 760 pounds, bench-pressed 545 and deadlifted 733 for a total weight of 2,038 to win the 242-pound class at the U.S. Power Lifting drug-free national championships. His bench and total were national drug-free records for his weight division.

Karen Barefoot
NEWPORT NEWS, VA.
Barefoot, a senior recreation major at Christopher Newport University, dished out seven assists in an 80-58 loss to Methodist College to become the first collegiate basketball player to accumulate 2,000 points and 1,000 assists. She ended her career with 2,073 points and 1,002 assists.

Gaddy Soffer
COLUMBUS, GA.
Gaddy, a senior wrestler at the Brookstone School, beat Carson Parris of Pacelli High 11-7 to win the state Class A 103-pound title for the third year in a row. Gaddy, who won all 41 of his matches this season and was 107-3 over his three varsity seasons, had both feet amputated when he was four.

Grace Altus
SANTA BARBARA, CALIF.
Altus, 70, a retired psychologist, set a national women's 70-74 age-group record in the one-hour swim by stroking 3,600 yards, surpassing the old mark by 240 yards. She had previously established national one-hour (3,545 yards) and one-mile (26:57) women's records in the 65-69 age group.

Jodi Janssen
PAPILLION, NEB.
Jodi, a senior at Papillion-La Vista High, won her fourth state girls' one-meter diving crown in as many years. She is the only diver to have won four Nebraska titles. Jodi's score of 475.85 was more than 20 points higher than the old state record, set in 1986 by Becki Clark of Marian (Omaha) High.
