Tamika, a 6-foot freshman center at Stevenson High, and her sister Tauja, a 5'10" sophomore guard, led the Patriots' girls' basketball team to a berth in the sectional finals and a 30-1 record, the best in the school's history. Tamika, a 66.0% shooter, was the only freshman in the nation to make the Parade All-America Team and set school girls' records for number of field goals (206) and points scored by a freshman (531), and average points (19.0), rebounds (12.5), blocked shots (3.0) and steals (4.7). Tauja had 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 4.5 assists a game while shooting 56.0%. Their father, Harvey, played for 12 seasons in the NBA.

Matt Mattson
FAIRBANKS, ALASKA
Matt, a senior at West Valley High, became the first wrestler in Alaska's large-schools category to earn four state 4A titles when he won the 135-pound final. Though he sat out last season with a broken pelvis and ruptured spleen sustained in a car wreck, he went 20-0 this season to run his career record to 106-1.

WARWICK, N.Y.
Whitsell, 36, the manager of a picture-framing shop, established women's masters (age 35-39) records in the 500, 777, 1,000 and 1,500 meters at the North American short-track speed skating championships. She also is the record holder for the same age group in the 500 on the long track.

Chris Marinucci
GRAND RAPIDS, MINN.
Marinucci, a senior left wing on the Minnesota-Duluth hockey team, won the Hobey Baker memorial award and was named the WCHA player of the year. He led his team with 61 points on 30 goals and 31 assists in 38 games and was the fourth Bulldog to twice score 30 or more goals in a season.

Justin Zackey
LEWISBURG, PA.
Zackey, a senior lacrosse attackman, broke Bucknell's career record with 119 goals while leading the Bisons in scoring this year with 25 goals and 12 assists. Zackey, a geography-biology major with a 3.7 GPA, won a Luce Foundation Scholarship and will study in China next year.
