Cliff Kronauer
INGLEWOOD, COLO.
Kronauer, 73, a retired Air Force major general, defeated 19-year-old Frank Watson of El Paso, an Air Force Academy sophomore, to clinch the D Division championship at the Pikes Peak YMCA handball tournament. Kronauer won in straight sets 21-5, 21-18.
Flirtisha Harris
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.
Harris, a senior at Seton Hall, won the women's 200 and 100 meters at the Big East outdoor track meet to give her a total of 15 individual conference titles, the most of any runner in Big East history. She clocked a meet-record 11.54 in the 100 and also anchored the winning 4 x 100- and 4 x 400-relay teams.
Brian Barrett
PARKERSBURG, W.VA.
Brian, a senior at Parkersburg Catholic High, pitched his third no-hitter in a row and his fourth this year in a 2-0 Class A sectional playoff win over Gilmer County High. Through last Friday he was 7-1 with 116 strikeouts in 57 innings, with an ERA of 0.61 and an opponents' batting average of .068.
Samantha Hecht
CORAL SPRINGS, FLA.
Samantha, 10, a goalie for her U-10 city soccer team, had 24 shutouts this season in leading the Crusaders to a 35-0 record and the state U-10 championships. Samantha, who was in only her second year as netminder, allowed just 12 goals during the season.
Greg Brown
ALBUQUERQUE
Brown, a 5'7" guard at New Mexico, won the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, an honor bestowed upon the nation's best senior male Division I basketball player who is under six feet tall. Brown, who averaged 19.3 points a game in 1993-94, was the Lobos' top scorer.
Daniel Young
BRAINTREE, MASS.
Daniel, a senior gymnast at Braintree High who has competed since he was nine, won the all-around title at the state championships for the third straight year. He broke his school's all-around record with a score of 53.05 and also set school marks in high bar, parallel bars, rings and vault.
