Tiffany Yick

Yick, 23, led the Just Volleyball team to the women's title for the third consecutive year and was named MVP for the second straight time at the North American Chinese Volleyball Tournament. In the final her outside hitting was the key to the 15-1, 15-8 win over Montreal Freemason.
Coty Pensyl
NAZARETH, PA.
Coty, 6, won seven straight beginner-class quarter midget competitions at the Blue Mountain track. His performances in the¾-mile races, during which the cars average 20 mph, qualified him to advance to the novice level, where he placed second and third in the two races he entered.
Brent Bridges
PINE BLUFF, ARK.
Brent, 15, a third baseman, led Pine Bluff to a second-place finish at the Babe Ruth World Series by going 9 for 17 with three home runs—one a grand slam—seven RBIs and seven runs scored. Despite his team's loss in the title game, he was named the series MVP.
George Sloan
FRANKLIN, TENN.
Sloan, 55, tied the American amateur steeplechase record for career wins when he got his 147th victory at the St. James Maiden Claiming Hurdle. Sloan, who has been competing in steeplechases since age 15, is the only amateur to be a champion jockey in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
