Matt, a senior at Pinkerton Academy, and John, a senior at Londonderry High, finished first and second, respectively, in the 5K Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships, with times of 14:58.3 and 15:03.1. Matt and John, who grew up 15 miles from one another, were first and second in five other races this season, including the 5K New Hampshire Meet of Champions, in which Matt defeated John by three seconds, in 15:30; the New England Cross Country Championship, in which John (15:27) beat Matt by nine seconds; and the state Class L meet, in which John (15:24) prevailed over Matt by six seconds.

Trisha Perry

Barrett Robinson
DAYTON
Trisha, a senior basketball guard-forward at Mansfield High, and Barrett, a senior running back at Chaminade-Julienne High, were named the first recipients of the Wendy's High School Heisman Award for excellence in athletics, academics and community service. Trisha was a 1994 basketball all-stater and has a 3.89 academic average. Through last Friday she was averaging 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists a game for the Lions this season. Barrett, an all-state back, rushed for a school-record 3,050 yards in his three-year varsity career. Barrett has a 4.0 academic average and is also president of the National Honor Society.

Fred Rakers
AVISTON, ILL.
Rakers, 49, the girls' volleyball coach at Mater Dei High, guided the Knights to a 15-2, 15-8 win over Normal University High for their third Class A state title in eight years. In 19 seasons of coaching at Mater Dei, Rakers has amassed a 519-85 record, including 38-0 in 1994.

Malleh Sallah
BANJUL, GAMBIA
Sallah, a senior goalkeeper, led Bethany College to five overtime wins in the Division III NCAA soccer tournament, including a 1-0 double-OT defeat of Johns Hopkins in the finals. Sallah finished his career with a goals-against average of 0.81 and 40 shutouts in 87 games. He is also a 1994 All-America.
