Misty, a senior outside hitter, and Melissa, a senior middle hitter, led the Newport Harbor High girls' volleyball team to a 15-4, 16-14, 15-10 win over Stockton St. Mary's High to win the state Division I championship. It was the Sailors' second crown in the last three years. Misty, a three-time state championship MVP, had 548 kills, 302 digs and 92 assists this season. She was also named national player of the year. Melissa, who had 317 kills, 130 digs and 101 solo blocks for the 33-1 Sailors, was named first team All-America. She also has a 3.8 GPA. During Misty and Melissa's four-year careers, Newport Harbor had a 106-12 record.

Vince Carter
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA.
Vince, a 6'6" guard, had 38 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks in an 83-50 win over Oviedo High and 26 points, 16 rebounds and 17 blocks in an 80-55 defeat of Lake Mary High. Regarded as the top high school off-guard in the nation, Vince had led his team to a 53-5 mark in the last two years through last Friday.

Brian Holzinger
PARMA, OHIO
Holzinger, a senior ice hockey center at Bowling Green, through last Friday had scored three hat tricks this season, including one against Wisconsin in the Badger Hockey Showdown. Holzinger was named MVP of the tournament. He led the nation in points (53) and was third in shorthanded goals (3).

Kerry McCoy
MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y.
McCoy, a heavyweight wrestler at Penn State, defeated Dan Hicks of Navy 3-2 to win his 75th consecutive match. In 1994 McCoy, a junior, became the first Nittany Lion to win the NCAA heavyweight title in 39 years. Since his sophomore year in high school, McCoy's record is 154-24.

Lindsay Benko
ELKHART, IND.
Linsday, a senior at Elkhart Central High, won her 10th and 11th state titles to become the winningest girl swimmer in state meet history. In 1994 Lindsay won the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events, each for the fourth consecutive time, in 50.10 and 1:48.08, respectively.
