IS DOLE OUT OF THE WOODS?

Here's more evidence that the sky's the limit for U.S. Amateur
champion Tiger Woods: Despite a disappointing 23rd-place finish
in the Golf Digest Collegiate, Woods, a sophomore at Stanford,
came in fourth in a poll of 44 players at The Woodlands who were
asked whom they would like to see become the next U. S.
president. Not surprising in the conservative world of golf,
Republican Bob Dole won handily, receiving 28 votes, 24 more
than his closest competitor, Steve Forbes. Pat Buchanan was shut
out, even though at least one player admitted that it might be
in his interest to go way right--"Buchanan's protectionist
policies might exclude foreign golfers from PGA Tour events and
open up spots for hacks like me," the player said. Bill Clinton
received a mere three votes, only one more than write-in
candidate Woods. Said a Tiger supporter, "He's a role model.
Plus, he would be the first president who didn't cheat at golf."
