BOTTOM LINES

TIGER WOODS: He ranks 161st in sand saves and 27th in putting,
which means he's one of the Tour's worst bunker players.

PRESIDENT CLINTON: He received a private lesson from short-game
guru Dave Pelz during U.S. Open week.

KO'OLAU: The toughest course in the land (slope: 162) is up
for sale. The monster of Kaneohe, Hawaii, on Oahu cost more than
$82 million to build, so bid accordingly.

GARGOYLES: The company signed a licensing agreement for a line
of Jack Nicklaus sunglasses. Funny, we've never seen Jack
wearing shades.

WOMEN GOLFERS: Everyone says they're a growing faction, yet the
831 entries for last week's U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links
represented a 31% decrease from 1986.

BRITISH OPEN: On the other hand, the 2,133 entries for next
month's Open are a 14.8% increase over last year's.

McHENRY METALS: Think technology stocks are risky? McHenry
Metals, the new club company started by Taylor Made founder Gary
Adams, has issued 1.2 million shares of stock under the symbol
GLFN but won't have a product until September.
