BOTTOM LINES

--WORLD RECORD: How much golf is too much? How about 17 rounds
in 24 hours, the record recently set by five Englishmen in
Iceland?

--NICK FALDO: He's playing in the next three Euro tour events,
hoping to accumulate enough points to make the Ryder Cup team.
As if captain Seve Ballesteros wouldn't pick him otherwise.

--A BALLESTEROS FINALLY WINS: Baldomero, Seve's six-year-old
son, won a nine-hole event in Spain.

--FADING: Every Senior tour event on network television this
season has had a lower rating than it did last year.

--COURSES: There are more golf courses in the U.S. (15,703) than
McDonald's restaurants (10,915).

--PHIL MICKELSON: It took awhile, but his partnership with IBM
has paid off with a neat Web site. At www.phil-mickelson.com you
can see Lefty's swing from two angles and at three speeds. Way
cool.

--PAUL STANKOWSKI: If he doesn't qualify on points, isn't he the
most logical Ryder Cup selection? He ranks in the top 20 in
driving, scoring, money, eagles, birdies and all-around, and has
five top-10 finishes in 19 starts.
