BOTTOM LINES

BOOM OR BUST? Your course just seems more crowded. The
National Golf Foundation says there are 3 million fewer golfers
today than in 1990, when the number peaked at 28 million.

TOM WEISKOPF: "Tiger is a great player but he has not lost a
loved one, has not gone through a business failure and has not
had a bad run-in with the press. There is so much that he will
experience." Tom's always been an optimist.

HOT PUTTERS: Odyssey's on the rise, but the winner of 40 of the
last 72 men's majors has used a Ping.

DAVID FEHERTY: "Johnny [Miller] criticizes too much without
thinking of the feelings [of the player]."

MILLER: Wonder what he was feeling after he shot 81 against Jack
Nicklaus in their Wonderful World of Golf match?

LAURA DAVIES: She became the first woman to play in the Fred
Couples Invitational, shooting 73-82 to finish last in the
22-player field.

CLINT EASTWOOD: Dirty Harry golf threads? Eastwood has formed a
company, Prime Golf USA, which will offer a clothing line based
on the Eastwood image.
