--QUESTION: With all the great courses in the U.S., why is the
Presidents Cup returning to the Robert Trent Jones Golf
Club--for the third time--in 2000?

--ANSWER: President Clinton, in a letter to Vernon Jordan, the
president of the club and a golfing buddy, wrote that he "hoped
to participate in official activities" during the event.

--USGA: Golf's governing body is looking for a software engineer
to "analyze complex problems and create solutions for its Golf
Handicap and Information Network." And they told us equitable
stroke control was simple.

--TIGER WOODS: He won the PGA of America Player of the Year
award, and is in the running for Smirnoff's Most Pretentious
Athlete of the Year for endorsing American Express while also
partially owning the All-Star Cafe, which doesn't accept the card.

--JOHN DALY: Since his return to the Tour in July, he has made
