Bottom Lines

OLYMPICS: Golf hasn't been played at the Games since 1904 and
Seve Ballesteros has never been a synchronized swimmer or
Greco-Roman wrestler. Still, Ballesteros was recently awarded
the Olympic Order, the highest honor the International Olympic
Committee bestows.

CASEY MARTIN: After Palmer, Nicklaus and Ken Venturi testified
against him, Martin said he respected them but "never considered
them my idols."

NICKLAUS'S SCREECH: "People are tired of watching tournaments
where everything is a driver and a wedge." Nicklaus's Streak:
Jack says that if the USGA invites him to play in the U.S. Open
he will play all four majors. If not he'll skip the Masters,
snapping his string of consecutive majors at 145. Can the Olden
Bear sulk his way into the Open?

MASTERS: It's sold out again. Of course, tickets haven't
actually been for sale since 1972.

ELY CALLAWAY: The founder of Callaway on Top-Flite's strategy of
selling balls made specifically for Callaway clubs: "In a short,
very short summary, it seems to me to be pretty dumb."
