The Cowboys had won 64 straight dual meets, including the recent National Duals, in which they beat Minnesota 20-17.

Swimming Shealy, a junior at Georgia, won the 100-yard backstroke in 54.67 seconds, the 50 freestyle (23.03) and the 100 free (50.60) in a 187-113 dual-meet upset of then No. 1 Stanford. She's a 12-time All-America and has qualified for NCAA championships in the 100-back and 200-medley relays.
