COLOR PHOTO: CLAY MCLACHLAN Tania Woods, Oakland Track and Field Tania, a senior at Skyline High, won the state title in both the 100 and 200 meters, setting national seasonal bests with times of 11.41 and 22.88. (Only two other high schoolers have run faster 200s). Woods, who will attend USC on a track scholarship this fall, led the Titans to a third-place team finish.

COLOR PHOTO: ANCIL NANCE Lee Graff, Portland Racquetball Graff, 61, won the over-60 division at the United States Racquetball Association National Singles Championship, his third straight major-tournament victory. A retired YMCA director, Graff won the U.S. Open last November and the National Masters in April.

COLOR PHOTO: SUSAN ALLEN SIGMON Tobie Smith, Chappaqua, N.Y. Swimming Smith, 25, won the 28.5-mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in 6:32:41. Smith, the winner of the 25-kilometer swim at the '98 world championships, is a former University of Texas standout. She plans to swim the English Channel in August before entering medical school this fall.

COLOR PHOTO: JENNIFER HAUCK Lou Young, Woodstock, Vt. Lacrosse Young, 51, coached Woodstock Union High to its fourth straight state title with a 12-11 victory over Middlebury High. Young, whose north squad won the national North-South High School All-Stars Game 18-7 last month, has led the Wasps to a 75-5 record over the past four years.

Race Walking Brosnahan won the USA Track and Field National 15-kilometer Racewalk Championship in the 45-49 age division with a time of 1:27:26. The U.S. age-group record holder at 40 kilometers, Brosnahan has won four national titles in the past year and a half.

COLOR PHOTO: REFLECTIONS INC. Craig Webb, Shreveport, La. Golf Webb, 28, shot a four-round, one-under-par 287 to win the Louisiana Golf Association Men's Amateur Championship by three strokes. Webb, a former LSU golfer who turned pro and played on the Hooters tour after winning the title in '94, was recently reinstated as an amateur.
