His time in the 4.9-mile race (25:37) was almost a minute faster than that of second-place Gaby Rodriguez of Florida International.

COLOR PHOTO: CHAD CARDER Charity Kuhlmann, Sioux City, Iowa Rugby Kuhlmann, a senior wing for the South Dakota women's team, scored 40 tries for the Coyotes, who outscored their last three opponents 196-7 and finished the season 10-0, qualifying for the Western Collegiate championships next April. Last summer Kuhlmann made the U.S. women's under-23 team.

Soccer Lukin, a junior forward at Illinois-Chicago, was named Midwestern Collegiate Conference player of the week for the fourth time in nine weeks this season. He led the Flames to their first MCC regular-season title with two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over Detroit.

Her record 22.75 came in the first leg of the 4x50 free relay. That effort plus her wins in the 50 and 100 free, and 4x50 medley relay sparked Gillette to a sixth straight state girls' team title.

Football Jaren, a sophomore running back at Cedar Crest High, rushed for 375 yards and four touchdowns in a 39-21 win over Hempfield High of Landisville. He ran for 1,526 yards, averaged 7.7 yards per carry and scored 24 touchdowns in 10 regular-season games.

COLOR PHOTO: JOHN BARD Randy Dagostino, Tampa Volleyball Dagostino, 48, coached the Berkeley Prep High girls to a 15-1, 15-5 victory over Lakeland Christian High for his 500th win. The Buccaneers, who won their 11th state title last Saturday, have lost only 93 of 603 matches in the 17 seasons that Dagostino has been coaching the team.
