Volleyball Cacciamani, a senior middle hitter at Penn State, had 31 kills, a .574 hitting percentage and no errors as the Nittany Lions defeated Michigan (15-2, 15-11, 15-6) and Michigan State (15-7, 15-10, 15-3). She helped Penn State extend its Big Ten winning streak to 45 straight matches.

Trailing for most of the final round, Daniels caught Bauer with a 110-yard eagle chip on 12 and kept pace from there to force a playoff at seven-under-par 209.

Wade has run for 2,164 yards and 26 touchdowns in leading the Ramblers to a 9-3 record and a berth in the city championship game.

She finished 37 seconds ahead of Laura Sbordone of Desert Mountain High in Scottsdale.

Basketball Nearman, 73, captained the Tom Scott Tar Heels to six straight victories to win the Senior Olympic three-on-three gold medal in the 70-74 age group. Nearman, the captain for North Carolina in 1949-50, has now won three senior championships in three age divisions.
