COLOR PHOTO: SALLY MCCAY Morgan Valley, Colchester, Vt. Basketball Morgan, a senior guard at Rice Memorial High, scored 18 points to lead the Little Indians to a 56-30 defeat of Lewistown High. The win was Rice Memorial's 32nd straight. She led the 12-0 Little Indians in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals through Sunday. She'll play at Connecticut next year.
COLOR PHOTO: BRIAN SPURLOCK Otis Shannon, Indianapolis Football Otis, a junior running back at Cathedral High, ran for 3,252 yards to set the state single-season rushing record and lead the Fighting Irish to the state 4A title for the second straight year. He also set the state single-game mark of 489 yards in a 34-24 win over LaSalle High of Cincinnati.
COLOR PHOTO: TIM JACKSON Gregg Alpert, Englewood, Colo. Tennis Gregg, a senior at Cherry Creek High, won a state title for the fourth consecutive year to finish his varsity career at 83-0. Before playing singles as a junior and senior, he went undefeated in doubles as a freshman and sophomore with partners Beau Berland and Frank Visciano, respectively.

Swimming Katie, a senior at Buffalo High, was named the top state 2A-3A girl aquatic athlete for the fourth straight year after winning state crowns in the 100-yard butterfly and the 200 free. During her four high school seasons she set seven state records and won eight individual state titles.
COLOR PHOTO: TONY GOLDEN Penny Weissgerber, Manlius, N.Y. Badminton Weissgerber, 52, won the singles, doubles and mixed doubles at the National Senior Games. She beat Helen Schumacher of Dayton 5-11, 11-7, 11-7 in the singles final and won the doubles crown with Elaine Brigman of Webster, N.Y., and the mixed doubles with husband Carl.

Hockey Ben, 17, was named MVP of the Mac's AAA Midget tournament after scoring 18 points in seven tournament games, including two goals and three assists in Shattuck St. Mary's Prep's 6-2 title-game defeat of the Fort Saskatchewan (Alberta) Rangers. He will play at Boston College next year.
