Soccer Baumann, 28, the men's soccer coach at Dominican University, was named Chicago Collegiate Athletic Conference coach of the year for the second time in three seasons. His Stars went 21-2 and won the NAIA Division I Region VII championship.

Before competing in the upcoming national finals, he appeared in the ABC movie King of the World as the young Cassius Clay.

Wrestling Tom, a junior at Pomona High, beat Matt Martinez of Thompson Valley High in the 119-pound division at the Lincoln Wrestling Invitational to win his 32nd consecutive match this season. During three years of high school competition he has gone 94-0.
COLOR PHOTO: WINSLOW TOWNSON Rick DiPietro, Ann Arbor, Mich. Hockey DiPietro, 18, won the Directorate Award at the world junior championships as the tournament's top goalie by attaining a 2-2-1 record, a 1.81 GAA and a .935 save percentage. He was only the second American to win the award.
COLOR PHOTO: DENNY LANDWEHR Dan Ketchum, Sycamore, Ohio Swimming Dan, a senior at Sycamore High, won the 400-meter individual medley, the 500 freestyle and the 1,650 free at the Southwestern Ohio high school championships. He has the region's top times in the 200 IM (1:56.28), the 200 free (1:40.42) and the 500 free (4:32.24).
COLOR PHOTO: MICHAEL QUARTERMAN Sara Walker, El Paso Tennis Walker, a freshman at UCLA, beat Jewel Peterson of USC 7-5, 6-0 to win the collegiate Classic singles championship. She also won the doubles title, with Amanda Basica of UCLA, to become the first freshman to sweep both crowns in the event's 24-year history.
