COLOR PHOTO: MICHAEL QUARTERMAN Seilala Sua, Fort Lauderdale Track and Field Sua, a senior and four-time All-America at UCLA, won the shot put at the NCAA indoor championships with a heave of 56'8" to lead the Bruins to the women's title. She was also second in the 20-pound weight throw. She's the reigning NCAA outdoor shot put and discus champ.

Wrestling Drew, a freshman at St. Stephens High, beat Peter Chrzanowski of Harding High 8-3 to win the Class 3A 103-pound division at the state championships. The victory was his 50th this season as he became the first freshman in North Carolina to go undefeated.

COLOR PHOTO: SUSAN ALLEN SIGMON Colleen Lanne, Tucson Swimming Lanne, a junior at Texas, won the 50-, 100- and 200-yard freestyles, setting Big 12 conference records in the last two, and swam legs on the victorious 4x50, 4x100 and 4x200 free and 4x50 medley relay teams at the league championships. She was named swimmer of the meet.

COLOR PHOTO: MARK ROWE PHOTOGRAPHY Julia Clukey, Augusta, Maine Luge Julia, 14, won the Junior I (17-and-under age group) girls' national championship, with a two-run time of 125.324, for the second consecutive year. Julia, who has been competing for only three years, also finished third in the Junior II (20 and under) category.

Shooting Allaire, a freshman at Nebraska, shot a personal season-high 1,183 (out of a possible 1,200) to beat Matt Emmons of Alaska Fairbanks and win the small-bore title at the NCAA rifle championships while leading the Cornhuskers to third place. She was named an NRA first-team All-America.

COLOR PHOTO: KYLE CHRISTYEffat Id-Deen, Atlanta Soccer Effat, a senior at W.D. Mohammed High, scored six goals in an 11-0 defeat of Clarkston High as the Lady Caliphs ran their record to 6-2-1. Through Sunday she led Mohammed High with 31 goals. She had also averaged 17.1 points and 12 rebounds for the girls' basketball team.
