Bowling Strampe, 69, a bowling center owner, rolled a 300 in a 790 series in the Men's Summer Trio league to become the first bowler in American Bowling Congress history to roll a perfect game in six straight decades. An ABC Hall of Famer, Strampe bowled his first perfect game in 1956.
COLOR PHOTO: CLAY MCLACHLAN Janet Ng, SAN FRANCISCO Fencing Janet, a senior at Lowell High who competed against both girls and boys this season, defeated teammate Christine Fong 15-3 to win her second straight girls' foil city title. Janet also won the bronze at the state championships, one year after she captured the silver.

Golf Thomas, 8, used only a driver, a seven-iron and a putter to shoot a three-over 35 in eight holes to win the eight-and-under division of the International Junior Golf Classic at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Course for the second straight year. Last year he won shooting even par.

Track and Field Nick, a senior and the only competitor for Lemont High, won the 200 and 400 meters in 21.54 and 47.50 seconds, respectively, at the Class AA state finals. He also won the long jump and placed second in the 100 meters to finish second overall in the team competition.
COLOR PHOTO: STEVE BUTMAN Sean Holamon, ABILENE, TEXAS Baseball Sean, a 12-year-old switch-hitting shortstop, had eight home runs in six Little League games, including a doubleheader in which he went 7 for 7 with three homers and connected from both sides of the plate in the same inning. This year he led the Southern Little League, batting .674.

Lacrosse Sternberg, 28, the girls' varsity coach at St. Edward's School since 1995, guided the Pirates to their third consecutive state title with a 10-1 win over Winter Park-Lake Howell. That win extended Sternberg's unbeaten streak at St. Edward's to 63 games over the last 3 1/2 seasons.
