HARRINGTON Steven Sim, FORT LAUDERDALE Golf Sim, 49, a utility company planning supervisor, won his second state match play championship, beating Justin Hoagland, 20, of Palmetto, one up at Cobblestone Country Club in Palm City. The 1998 titlist, Sim won when Hoagland conceded after hooking his tee shot on 18 into the water.

He also broke the Southern California record--set in 1969 by Kiki Vandeweghe, who went on to basketball stardom--in the 50 butterfly with a time of 30.76.

Swamp Bats. Ribas, a righthander, got both victories in games the Swamp Bats had to win to avoid elimination.

She's also the three-time defending junior women's world indoor 3-D target champion and has two junior women's outdoor target national titles.

REID III Mike D'Andrea, AVON LAKE, OHIO Track and Field Mike, 16, won two golds at the AAU Junior Olympics, taking the 15-16-year-old title in the shot put with a national age-group record put of 62'9", and the discus with a throw of 175'2". Last year he led Southwestern Conference football cochampion Avon Lake High with 97 tackles at linebacker.
