Waterskiing Danyelle, 13, won the Girls 2 overall national championship for the second consecutive year, taking the slalom title with two buoys at 35 feet off and the jumping title with a leap of 92 feet. It was the sixth straight tournament in which she tied her own Girls 2 U.S. record in the slalom.

Soccer Nick, 18, a senior and four-year starter at Moravia Central High, broke the national high school career saves record by stopping 10 shots in a 5-0 loss to Trumansburg High. His 937th save, which came 1:03 into the game, surpassed the 936 by Brian Siebrasse of Malta (Ill.) High in 1979.

She went 3-0 and allowed two hits and no walks in a tournament-record 23 consecutive scoreless innings as the Comets took the Class 1A title.

She has coached the Rebels since their inaugural season, in 1972, and has guided them to two state championships, the most recent in 1998.

Football Kyle, 16, a junior tailback at St. Joseph's Prep, tied the record for touchdowns by a Philadelphia Catholic League player by rushing for six in a 55-26 win over North Penn High in Lansdale. He carried 26 times for 207 yards, and he scored three touchdowns in the game's final 6:15.

Basketball Vanessa, 17, a senior guard at Lahser High in Bloomfield Hills, scored 45 points in two games as the Knights won their Tip-Off Tournament. The granddaughter of Baseball Hall of Famer Turkey Stearnes, Vanessa through Sunday was averaging 16.3 points and 6.2 assists per game.
