Basketball Alexis, a senior guard at Grant High, broke school career girls' records for points (1,148) and steals (305) in a 67-41 win over John H. Francis Polytechnic High of Sun Valley. A two-time Los Angeles city champion in the 100 and 200 meters, she will attend USC on a track scholarship.

Football Pat, a senior running back and linebacker at Forks High who will play for Washington State, rushed for 2,448 yards and 30 touchdowns this season and was named the state's Heisman Award winner. He finished his high school career with 5,420 rushing yards and 67 touchdowns.

COLOR PHOTO: COURTESY OF U.S. BIATHLON ASSOCIATION Rachel Steer, ANCHORAGE Biathlon Steer, 23, won the U.S. Biathlon senior (20 years and over) women's championship for the second consecutive year. Steer, who's training for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, is undefeated in domestic races during the past two years.

COLOR PHOTO: LOGAN CASTOR Ben Stroud, TWIN FALLS, IDAHO Volleyball Stroud, 44, the women's coach at the College of Southern Idaho, guided the Golden Eagles to their seventh Division I junior college title in the last eight years. In 16 seasons he has had a record of 741-118, including a 190-match winning streak from 1994 to '97.

Wrestling Andy, a 135-pound senior at Fort Mill High, was named the most valuable player at the Bearcat Invitational after winning all four of his matches, including two by pin. Andy, who's undefeated this season, beat the two-time 4-A and two-time 3-A state champions en route to the title.

Her time of 20:02 over the 3.1-mile course put her 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up, Kristy VanCour of State University of New York at Cobleskill.
