The Red Wings have talked to the Rangers about acquiring veteran
left wing Adam Graves, while Thrashers right wing Donald Audette
may be dealt back to the Sabres, where he began his NHL career.
Also on the trade front, the Canucks and the Sharks appear to be
the front-runners to obtain Thrashers center Ray Ferraro....

Speaking of the Sharks, they are furious with the league over
wing Owen Nolan's 11-game suspension for his cheap-shot forearm
shiver to the head of the Stars' Grant Marshall two weeks ago.
(San Jose is appealing the ban.) The Sharks believe they are
being punished for the contract they gave Nolan this season,
which calls for his $6.5 million option in 2005-06 to be picked
up if there's an extended lockout in the previous year, when the
CBA expires....

Red Wings veteran Igor Larionov is one of several Russian stars
in the NHL who are lobbying Moscow to name Devils assistant
Slava Fetisov as coach of the Russian Olympic team for the Salt
Lake Games. Many of the young Russian NHLers may refuse to play
for their native country if Boris Mikhailov, a holdover from the
cold war regime, is named to guide the team....

If Colin Campbell steps down as the NHL's vice president in
charge of discipline to pursue a coaching job, as expected, the
league should consider Pierre Page as his replacement. Page, who
is coaching in Europe, has NHL experience as a coach and general
manager, plus he's bilingual and has the respect of the hockey
